Zagreb arts and crafts museum was founded in 1880 on the initiative of Isidor Kršnjavi as one of the first that kind of institutions in Europe. Kršnjavi moved step forward that the first founded that type museum in England. His strategy was preservation of traditional values of folk crafts.
The building is constructed only for musuem purpose and together with School of applied arts forms one of the most beautiful squares in Zagreb. Musuem is just opossite to Croatian National theatre or 10 minutes away from the main square by foot or with tram No 12,14,17 from the main square.
Achitecture collection of the Museum of Arts and Crafts has more than a thousand exponats.
Major part of the exhibits are gift from the state or object form the World Exhibition, held in Pars 1925.
The permanent exhibition has galleries of baroque paintings, Croatian paintings, watches, metal, fashion,ivory etc. Besides permanent exhibition museum offers various photo exhibitions.
